WTW Award Program
The WTW Workplace Wellness Awards recognize local workplaces that provide comprehensive workplace wellness programming. Award recipients must demonstrate a strong commitment to improved health by promoting and supporting a comprehensive approach for employees, retirees, and their families.
THE AWARDS
These awards are presented each October during Canada’s Healthy Workplace Week. To be eligible, workplaces must meet the required criteria for Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum levels of workplace wellness programming.
AWARDS AND CRITERIA
BRONZE – Choose one topic and complete at least one activity in each of the four Comprehensive Health Promotion strategies for the topic. The topic must be one of the following; tobacco use and exposure, physical inactivity, or unhealthy eating.
SILVER – Expand on the Bronze criteria by selecting an additional topic (e.g., healthy weights, road safety, violence prevention, shift work health) and complete at least one activity in each of the four Comprehensive Health Promotion strategies for the topic.
GOLD – Expand on the Silver criteria by selecting a third topic and complete at least one activity in each of the four Comprehensive Health Promotion strategies for the topic. The third topic must be one of the following; tobacco use and exposure, physical inactivity, or unhealthy eating.
PLATINUM - Must meet the gold criteria for the fifth year and also have adopted the Healthy Meetings Guidelines.
APPLYING FOR AN AWARD
Award kits are available by visiting the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit’s website at www.wechealthunit.org or by calling 258-2146 x 3100. The kit provides examples, application forms, and further direction to interested workplaces. To be eligible for an award, a Tracking Form(s) must be submitted for the activities completed between September 1st and August 31st. The form(s) must be accompanied by supporting materials such as flyers, newsletters, resources, pictures, and policies that describe the activities under consideration. All Tracking Forms must be received no later than August 31st to be eligible for an award in October. All submissions will be reviewed by the Healthy Workplace Week Committee and a site visit by a committee member will be required to determine eligibility. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of this review.
AWARD PRESENTATIONS
Recipients will be presented with their WTW Workplace Wellness Award at the Canada’s Healthy Workplace Week breakfast, held during the fourth week of October. The Award can also be presented at the recipient’s workplace.
ANNUAL APPLICATION
Workplaces are encouraged to apply annually for these awards as a way of maintaining or expanding their workplace wellness program.
