Prevention and Specialized Services
CMHA also has programs for people who are experiencing some of life's difficulties. Many people cope relatively well with stress and life changes. Some people, however, may need support to get through these challenges. Without adequate support, they put themselves at risk for developing more serious mental health problems. The services offered by the Prevention and Specialized Services Unit offer exactly that - services for people in special circumstances, who may be at high risk of developing more serious mental health problems.

Employee Assistance Program for Workplaces
The Employee Assistance Program is designed to address concerns through the development of a comprehensive system of professional support, which includes assessment, referral, short-term counselling and follow-up.
A key service area addresses the mental health related needs of the workplace. Work related stress is increasingly recognized as an influence which, combined with the stress of day-to-day living, can result in reduced productivity, reduced job satisfaction, and increased absenteeism. These pressures occasionally lead to problems and difficulties that affect an employee's life and create a need for professional intervention and support.

Local Employee Assistance Program Providers (EAP)
T: 519-776-6004

They are designed to reach and encourage employees to seek help as well as link troubled employees with an appropriate helping service. Employee Assistance Programs provide help or counselling in many areas, often including issues related to stress management.
