Alcohol

Most Canadians at one time or another, have consumed alcohol. The Health Unit collaborates with other substance abuse partners in the community to promote responsible use of alcohol for those of legal drinking age.

The physical and social consequences of alcohol misuse are staggering.  The health unit works with community partners to promote responsible drinking for those who choose to drink.  While there is some evidence that small amounts of alcohol  (1-2 drinks/day) may be beneficial to health, if you don’t drink, don’t start for the health benefits. If you drink, check out the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Low Risk Drinking Guidelines at http://www.camh.net/addiction/pims/low_risk_drinking.html to learn more about the responsible use of alcohol.
