Head Games
Determine how to handle relationships, and what type of actions are appropriate.

Have you ever dated someone that drove you absolutely nuts -- and not in a good way?  This person would side-step questions, lie, attempt to "play you", etc?  This person is immature and is not ready for any sort of relationship.  He/ she is playing head games with you, and therefore, you should really not waste your time.  How can I tell if some one is playing head games?

Side-stepping your questions

  • can't give you a straight answer.
  • avoids the question or ignores it.
  • moves onto another topic.

"Me too"

  • agrees with everything you say.
  • cannot state his/ her own opinion.
  • cannot come up with his/ her own ideas.

Lies to you

  • you find out from other sources (his/ her friends) something different than what your date tells you.
  • says one thing, but does another.
  • stands you up.
  • does not do what he/ she says she will.
  • tells you that you are the only person for him/ her, but he/ she has all these other phone numbers of people you have not met.

Never introduces you to his/ her friends

  • he/ she goes out with his/ her friends, but never invites you.
or he/ she runs into you with his/ her friends, but does not introduce you.
  • he/ she tells you that his/ her friends feel uncomfortable meeting new people (i.e. you), but you find out later that they wanted to meet you the entire time.

Incongruent emotions and actions

  • This person tells you that he/ she cares, but says it in a way that contradicts this.
  • This person tells you he/ she is interested, but does not pay attention to the conversation when you two talk.
