What is love?

What is love?

Okay, what a topic to tackle.

What is love?  Love is basically something that is defined between the people who "love" each other.  Love comes about over time. Love is a subjective term and it may require some self-analysis to figure out what love means to you. For example, people say "I want trust, respect, honesty and so on". However, those are just terms we use to try to describe values we were taught to expect in a relationship and two peoples definitions of say "honesty" could be very different. To one person, honesty may mean "the whole truth, no sparing of feelings, every detail" and the other might believe "some secrets are good and the truth only need to be told when asked". So at this point, you may find it beneficial to figure out what your feelings are behind the values you hold in describing love in a relationship.

No two relationships are the same and what you want out of a relationship will change over time. The relationship you build with your partner has to be one that satisfies both of you, not one that satisfies your mother, friends, etc. Relationships are work, but you should enjoy the work and each other each and every day. The most important relationship you have is the one with yourself. You have to love and feel good about yourself for any relationship to be successful in your life.
