Walk Across Canada- About the Teaching Kit
The project can challenge the entire school community (i.e. students, teachers, staff, principals, parents) to collect “foot-steps” or “kilometers” over a specified period of time in order to travel from one end of the country to the other. As schools work through the challenge, they can track their progress on a map of Canada for a visually friendly competition. The teaching kit also contains certificates, a variety of handouts which outline how to administer the challenge, optional walking activities, the benefits of walking, how to use pedometers, and useful safety tips.
Schools can determine the length of time to implement the Walk Across Canada Challenge in their school: one week, one month, one semester, or one year. This teaching kit really is a “one stop shopping kit full of fun and active ideas on walking for children”.
