Suggested Launch Day Activities for the Eat Smart! School Cafeteria Program
Below is a list of suggested activities that your school can use to launch the Eat Smart! School Cafeteria Program. Feel free to come up with your own ideas to personalize your school's launch of the Eat Smart! Program - there are so many options!
- 3 out of 4 Poster and Activity Sheet with ballot and contest component (contact you school nurse if you are interested in these resources for your kick-off)
- Morning announcements
- Point of purchase messages
- Table tent cards
- Special notices around the school
- Cafeteria decorated with posters
- Special prizes e.g. hidden stickers on healthy foods - student receives prize for getting the item with the sticker
- Promotion of a particular food item or food group e.g. milk
- Display outside of cafeteria - encourage school/students to create a new display for each month
- Contest e.g. recipe/cooking contest, ballot for purchasing the featured "healthy choice"
