How to Order a Kit

  • Choose a kit from the list below and go to Order This Resource.
  • One kit may be taken out at a time for a maximum of 10 days.
  • Kits may be picked up and dropped off at one of two locations.
  1. Windsor office, located at 1005 Ouellette Ave. The kit will be located in the Comprehensive School Health Department on the second floor. Parking is available behind Mac's Milk at the corner of Erie and Ouellette, or on the street
  2. Leamington office, located at 215 Talbot St. East. 
  • If you don't have an email address, please contact the Comprehensive School Health secretary at 519-258-2146 ext. 1260 to order a kit.
  • We recommend that you book your kit 2 to 4 weeks in advance to ensure availability.

Tobacco Resources

Tobacco Use Prevention
Lungs are for Life is the Lung Association's program for smoking prevention. Health Canada has rated Lungs are for Life as one of the top three smoking prevention programs in the country. Lungs are for Life is designed to stop children from ever picking up their first cigarette. The program tries to influence and encourage students to explore their own ideas about smoking and to make dedcsions with facts, not peer pressure. Lungs are for Life helps young people develop the skills they need to live smoke-free.

Substance Misuse Prevention

Substance Misuse Prevention

This kit contains several resources, all related to substance misuse prevention.

  • Take Action - These grade specific lesson plans (Kindergarten to grade 8) are designed to address the use and misuse of substances. The programs provide easy-to-use lessons and activities to help young people make healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Rule Out Drugs - This is a fun and easy way for students to learn about drugs, resistance strategies, and related topics. It's appropriate for students in grade 5.

Nutrition

When using this kit, facilitators will be able to teach students about healthy eating through a variety of resources. Some resources can be used specifically for background information, while others can be used to teach the students.

Fat Jars

Fat  Content Jars (Nutrition)

Fat Content Jars

Facilitators will be able to use this kit to talk to youth about the fat content in foods from fast food restaurants. In addition, the youth will be able to see the actual amount of fat in 20 common fast foods.

The Physical Activity kit can help facilitators increase the students' level of physical activity through a variety of comprehensive resources and approaches. The kit also provides background information for the facilitators and encourages students to have fun while being active. Stop Bullying Now DVD and Instructor’s Guide: The DVD contains a series of 12 animated episodes depicting characters in a school setting who experience bullying and what they can do to resolve the situation. The Instructor’s Guide contains information about what bullying is and suggestions for discussions and activities on the issue of bullying.

Stop Bullying Now Activities Guide:
This guide contains suggestions for various activities for schools and after school programs to promote the Stop Bullying Now campaign.

Stop Bullying Now and the materials were created by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Bullying Prevention campaign. More information can be found at www.stopbullyingnow.hrsa.gov

This kit contains:

Dental kit

This kit can be used to teach children aged 3 to 14. There are different lessons for each age group. When the kit is borrowed, please make an appointment with the dental educator so she can assist the facilitator with the appropriate lesson and also add resources for that specific group. There are many additional resources available for children to take home to family to reinforce the lesson.
