Pools and Spas
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is dedicated to keeping our community healthy by promoting improved health and preventing disease and injury. The safe operation of pools and spas is necessary in order to reduce water-borne illness and injuries in recreational water.
Working together we can minimize health and safety risks to individuals using pools and spas.
Public pools and spas are inspected by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit under Ontario Regulation 565 – Public Pools Regulation and the Ontario Regulation 428/05 – Public Spas Regulation. These two regulations govern the operations of both public pools and spas in Ontario, under the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA). As an operator of either of these facilities, you are required by law to follow the above mentioned regulations.
As a part of our commitment, we offer a pool and spa course designed to educate and assist public pool and spa operators in their day-to-day management of their aquatic facilities.
