Travel Health Clinic

To make an appointment for the Travel Clinic please call (519) 258-2146 ext. 1872. After you have listened to the message you will be transferred to the receptionist who will book your appointment.

Appointments are available only to residents of Windsor and Essex County who possess a valid Ontario Health Insurance Card. You will be required to present the appropriate identification at your visit.

In order to allow for adequate preparation time, and because this clinic can typically be booked 4 to 6 weeks in advance, we advise you to contact a Physician or Travel Clinic a minimum of 8 to 12 weeks prior to your departure date.

Please note: Nurses will NOT give general recommendations over the phone.

What you will need to bring to your appointment:

  • Ontario Health Card
  • Record of vaccinations
  • Itinerary - including the exact number of days in each country and destinations within each country
  • List of medications you are currently taking

What to expect at your appointment
Your first appointments may take 1 to 2 hours for a complete travel assessment.
Appointments for Yellow Fever vaccine only, will take about a 1/2 hour.
At your appointment, you will be asked to provide information on the specifics of your itinerary, immunization history, and a list of any medical problems, allergies you may have as well as any medications you may be taking. A computer printout will be prepared identifying your specific risk factors, which will be reviewed with you along with fact sheets on all recommended vaccines and medications. You may receive immunizations at your first visit.

Follow-up appointments will be booked as needed and may take up to a 1/2 hour. Under the direction of the Medical Officer of Health, Registered Nurses can provide all routine, recommended, and required vaccines, medication and/or prescriptions for both Malaria prevention and antibiotic treatments for travellers' diarrhea, as well as pertinent travel health counselling and information.

Fees & Method of Payment
OHIP no longer pays for pre-travel health services.
The fee for the travel clinic is $30.00 per person for a full assessment.
The fee for an appointment for Yellow Fever only is $20.00 per person.
The cost of vaccines and/or medications range in price from $25.00 to $200.00 per shot. Price List

We accept only cash, debit or VISA as payment. Official itemized receipts will be issued for drug-plan reimbursement requests, and all prices are subject to change without notice.

Other Options
Resident of the United States cannot be accommodated at this clinic, therefore we advise you to contact your local Health Department or Travel Clinic in your area. Out of Country residents, those without a valid Ontario Health Card, or individuals whose departure dates are less than 4 to 6 weeks from now, may be accommodated at private travel clinics in Windsor through Dr. Sherman at 250-1518 or Dr. Basur at 944-1947. A list of Travel Clinics and Yellow Fever Centers across Canada is available through Health Canada's Travel Health website.
