Hepatitis B Immunization Program - Grade 7
Hepatitis B can be prevented. The Health Unit has a free, voluntary Hepatitis B vaccination program for all grade 7 students in Ontario. Please call the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit before contacting your doctor for this vaccine, because it is only provided free of charge through the Health Unit.Public health nurses give the students two injections, four months apart, during the school year.
Meningitis C Immunization Program - Grade 7
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will be offering free meningitis vaccines to certain high-risk age groups in schools this year. This vaccine is given by a needle and is safe and effective. It protects against Group C meningococcal disease. Meningitis C is responsible for most of the outbreaks in schools and communities in Ontario.
