Infants and Preschoolers

Diseases that vaccines prevent often occur in very young infants. The only way to protect your baby is to give vaccines soon after birth.

The vaccines used in Canada work well and are very safe.

Serious adverse reactions are rare. The dangers of vaccine-preventable diseases are greater than the risks of a serious adverse reaction to the vaccine. These diseases can lead to blindness, deafness, brain damage, paralysis, and death. Is it really worth risking that to avoid a needle prick?

There is no link between vaccines and chronic diseases, autism or sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

The Ontario Day Nurseries Act states that parents are responsible for making sure their children are fully immunized. Proof of immunization, or a valid exemption, is required or suspension from day care is possible.
