Adults

Adults should get a tetanus and diphtheria booster shot every 10 years.

The flu vaccine is recommended every year for everyone over the age of 6 months.

Pneumococcal vaccine is recommended for anyone over the age of 65 years. The pneumococcal vaccine may be given to anyone over the age of 2 years, but only when specific risk factors are present. Please see your doctor for more information.

Even if your routine immunizations are up to date, if you travel outside of Canada, talk to your local travel clinic or doctor for any vaccines you may need.

Health care and child care providers may want to consider getting hepatitis B, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertusis), and the varicella (chicken pox) vaccine. You may have to pay for these vaccines. Please ask your doctor for more information.
