This contest is open to residents of Windsor and Essex County who currently own a dog. Contestants under the age of 18 years must have a parent’s or legal guardian’s written permission to participate.

Contestants and their dogs must be at a level of health that permits them to walk for exercise. Contestants may be contacted for a post-contest evaluation survey.

To enter: Entry forms are available at participating locations and online.

Contestants must complete an official Entry Form and return it by October 19, 2007.

Entry forms may be completed and submitted online, or printed ballots must be mailed to:

Windsor-Essex County Health Unit,

or faxed to 519-776-6102.

Contest format: Contestants agree to walk with their dog for a minimum of four days per week, for a total of at least 30 minutes per day, during the two week contest period. Winners will be randomly chosen from among qualifying finalists. Qualification or disqualification of a contestant shall be entirely at the discretion of the contest organizers and any such decision shall be final.

Prizes: The grand prize will be a $200.00 gift certificate to a local pet store and a $200.00 gift certificate for a local sporting goods store. Secondary prizes will be awarded. Odds of winning depend upon the total number of eligible contestants at the end of the contest period. This contest is organized by Health Action Windsor-Essex to encourage Windsor and Essex County residents to become more physically active. Employees of the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, members of the Health Action Windsor-Essex executive and members of the Essex County Veterinary Association are not eligible.
