Windsor Essex County Active Living Coalition

This is a description of the WECALC.

 

WECALC LogoThe Windsor-Essex County Active Living Coalition (WECALC) was formed in the fall of 1992.  The WECALC exists as a community coalition to promote and support healthy active lifestyles for all Windsor-Essex County residents.

 

Membership on the WECALC represents a wide range of organizations including those from recreation, tourism and health sectors. 

 

Past activities have included mass media campaigns, SummerActive, WinterActive, Active Living workshops, Stair Climbing posters, Physical Activity Resource Guides, and sidewalk, bicycle path, and abandoned rail corridor and green space policy initiatives.

The Windsor-Essex County is a member of the Coalition for Active Living (CAL).  The CAL is a Canadian advocacy group made up of hundreds of groups, organizations and individuals committed to making sure that the environments where we live, learn, work and play support regular physical activity.
