Losing Weight…the healthy weigh 10 Week Program

A healthy weight loss program with a NEW approach!

Join a Registered Dietitian and learn how to change old habits, eat better, and be more active in this ten week program. Programs are offered twice a year and the next program starts in September 2008. Participants in the most recent class had lost an average of 10 lbs and 3 inches off their waist at the 6 month follow up session!        

Cost: $75 includes:

  • instruction from a Registered Dietitian
  • resource binder
  • high quality pedometer (device used to count steps)

 

Online registration will begin in July.

Losing Weight… the healthy weigh is a unique, research-based healthy weights program for adults. You’ll learn how to eat well and will learn how to increase your physical activity. By making small changes to your eating and physical activity habits, it will help you to lose weight safely and to keep it off.

You will participate in a group class, led by a Registered Dietitian, for 10 consecutive weeks. After that time, you’ll receive monthly maintenance notices from your session leader for up to one year after the class. There are also follow up meeting at six and twelve months where you can come back to celebrate your successes!

Eligibility requirements:

In order to participate in the program, participants must be 20-65 years old and have a BMI of 25-40, or permission from their medical provider. In addition, participants cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding a child under the age of one, nor can they have Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or heart disease.

When:

Classes are 2 hours long and there are 2 sessions being offered this Fall.

  • Mondays, 6:30-8:30 pm at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, 1005 Ouellette Avenue, starting September 15.
  • Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm at Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Centre, 249 Sherk Street starting September 16.
