The NEW Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide

The NEW Food Guide is here! Health Canada has just released the revised Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide. It has been expanded from the previous 1992 version based on the latest nutrition research to promote better health and to reduce the risk of many chronic diseases. Learn more about how the new Food Guide can help you make better food choices at home, at work, or at school.


Canada's New Food Guide ImageHealth Canada has just released the revised Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide. It has been updated from the 1992 version to include the latest nutrition research to promote health and reduce the risk for chronic diseases like obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer.

 Highlights of the new Canada’s Food Guide include a focus on vegetables and fruit, whole grains, and healthy oils, along with specific advice for different age groups.

 Learning more about the new Canada’s Food Guide will help you and your family know how much food you need every day, what types of foods are better for you, and the importance of physical activity in your day. In addition to the Food Guide,Health Canada’s website includes lots more healthy eating information, such as:

 

  • grocery shopping ideas
  • fast and easy meal ideas
  • food label reading
  • smart snacking
  • maintaining healthy habits

 

Using Canada’s Food Guide will help you make wise food choices whether you are eating at home, at school, at work or eating out. You can even create your own My Food Guide to help personalize the information found in Canada’s Food Guide based on your age, sex and food preferences.
