When Windsor-Essex Loses, Windsor-Essex Wins!

Back by popular demand! The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is offering a FREE WE Lose WE Win workshop for all of Windsor-Essex County focusing on reaching and keeping healthy body weights.

The workshop will be held this Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 6 to 8 pm at the Essex Civic Centre, 360 Fairview Ave West, Essex ON.

Food demonstrations on how to get more vegetables and fruit in your day and practical ways to get active and stay active will be highlighted. Those in attendance will also learn about the “WE Lose WE Win” online community healthy weights challenge.

The challenge encourages residents to reach and keep healthy body weights by completing weekly healthy eating and physical activity goals. Registration is now open for all residents of Windsor and Essex County at www.welosewewin.ca.

More than 54% of Windsor-Essex County residents aged 18 years and over are overweight or obese (Canadian Community Health Survey, 2008). This figure may help explain why many people are searching for credible, effective, and healthy weight loss strategies.

Admission is free, but non-perishable food items will be accepted and donated to area food banks.

Workshop registration is recommended, as space is limited.  For more information or to register, visit here or call 519-258-2146 ext. 3100.
