Are You Being Abused? Abuse Can Happen To Anyone. Is It happening To You?
If you are being abused you are not alone and you are not to blame. Abuse is not specific to any one race, age, religion, social status, or economic status. It can happen to anyone.
- 27% of women have been physically abused in an intimate relationship.
- 25% of physically abused women had their life threatened.
- 50% of women who have been physically abused have also been sexually assaulted in the same relationship.
- 2 of every 3 women have been sexually assaulted as a child, an adult or both.
- 42% to 80% of women have been sexually harassed in the workplace.

You may be a Victim of Abuse if Your Spouse or Partner:
- Tracks all of your time.
- Always accuses you of being unfaithful.
- Limits or refuses time with family and friends.
- Stops you from working or going to school.
- Picks on you for small, meaningless things.
- Gets angry when drinking alcohol.
- Controls all the money and forces you to report how you spend your money.
- Humiliates you in front of others.
- Uses your religion against you.
- Tries to make you jealous.
- Always argues with you.
- Threatens to take the children or calls you an unfit mother if you leave.
- Destroys your things.
- Hits, punches, slaps, kicks, shoves, or bites you or your children.
- Threatens to hurt you or your children.
- Uses or threatens to use a weapon on you.
- Forces you to have sex when you don't want to.
- Curses at you, calls you names, or blames you whenever things go wrong.
- Free time is limited to your partner's interests only.
- You cover or make excuses for your partner's behaviour.
- You feel you must ask permission to do things.
- You are punished for "misbehaving".
- Your partner grew up in an abusive family.
- There is trouble if you say an opposite opinion.
