Dental Program Now Includes Teens Up to 18th Birthday

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit would like to announce the expansion of their Children In Need Of Treatment (CINOT) Program.

Children and teens 17 years and under with urgent dental needs whose parents do not have dental coverage, may be eligible for dental treatment. The program previously covered children until their 14th birthday.

Children and teens are eligible if:

  • The child or teen has been screened by the Health Unit prior to dental treatment and an urgent dental need has been identified.
  • The child or teen is a resident of Ontario and has a valid Ontario Health Card number.
  • The parent or guardian has signed a legal document stating they do not have dental insurance and the cost of the dental treatment would result in financial hardship.
  • The child may see an Ontario dentist of their choice providing that the dentist agrees to participate in the CINOT program.
  • A claim form will be issued to the dentist for payment of treatment.
